SEEDING CRITERIA
UPDATED FOR 2003 INVITATIONAL

Seeding will be conducted by a Commitee on Wednesday January 15th, 2003. In the past, coaches have been allowed to attend the seeding meeting. Due to the number of out of state schools attending the tournament this year, the seeding will be done strictly by commitee. This commitee will use a strict seeding criteria which has been developed by the Hammond Invitational Directors and Commitee members in order to provide a fair and accurate judgement of the seeds which will seperate top wrestlers from meeting until later rounds.

SEEDING CRITERIA

The following are the criteria that will be used in determining the seeds for the Hammond Invitational.
1) Head-to-Head Matches
2) Common Opponents
3) Accomplishments
Given that there will be limited head-to-head matches or similar opponents between wrestlers of different states, we will honor accomplishments in the following order:
1) Placement at National Caliber Events (Fargo, Open Nationals, Beast, Ironman, Powerade, etc.)
2) Placement at State Tournaments
3) Placement at previous Hammond Invitationals
4) Placement at Regional tournaments
5) Current Record and Last Season Record

All other seeding decisions will be made by the commitee and are final unless unseen information is brought forward in a reasonable amount of time. The tournament commitee will tentatively be seeding the top 8 wrestlers in each weight class. Unseeded wrestlers will be placed on the bracket with a random draw.
